Baseball Recap: Marshall Comes Up Short

Marshall couldn't beat Central Heights on Thursday even though they stacked four runs on them in the second inning. The Mavericks fell just short of the Blue Devils by a score of 8-7. The Mavericks were not able to make up for their defeat to the Blue Devils from their previous meeting back in March of 2025.

Aldo Enrriquez was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Casey Cross, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.

Marshall's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-5-2. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only 3.5 runs. As for Central Heights, their win bumped their record up to 6-2.

Coincidentally, Marshall and Central Heights will both be playing Tatum the next time they take the field. The Mavericks will head out to face the Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, while the Blue Devils will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
