Basketball Recap: Windber Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Windber couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They received a blow on Thursday as they fell 48-34 to the McConnellsburg Spartans. While losing is never fun, the Ramblers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 269th, while the Spartans are ranked 113th).

Windber's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Evan Brady, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and ten boards. Grady Klosky was another key player, putting up 16 points.

McConnellsburg found their leader in sophomore Hoyt Glenn, who posted 11 points in addition to eight assists and seven rebounds. Glenn has been hot for a while, having also posted four or more steals the last ten times he's played. Another player making a difference was Dominic Jefferson, who shot 46% from the field on his way to 13 points.

With the defeat, Windber broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 17-8. As for McConnellsburg, the win (which was their 23rd in a row) raised their record to 24-1.

Windber does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for McConnellsburg, they have already played their next game, a 49-39 victory against North Star on the 3rd.
