Basketball Recap: Thayer Central Extends Winning Streak to Three

You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Thayer Central's strategy against David City on Saturday. The Thayer Central Titans were the clear victor by a 49-26 margin over the David City Scouts. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 29-9.

It was another big night for Sam Souerdyke, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten boards. He is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Braxton Dankenbring, who posted 12 points.

Thayer Central was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as David City only racked up four assists.

Reese Svoboda and Cameron Hlavac certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Svoboda had 17 points, while Hlavac put up five points.

The victory was the third in a row for Thayer Central, bringing their record for this year to 12-4. As for David City, they dropped their record down to 2-15 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Wilber-Clatonia the next time they take the court. David City will head out to face Wilber-Clatonia at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, while Thayer Central will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
