Softball Recap: Southwestern Comes Up Short

Southwestern came into this matchup off a tough 18-run loss on Monday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Switzerland County Pacers by a score of 8-6 on Wednesday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Pacers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 20-5 back in April.

Southwestern saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Paisley Hendrix, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double. Another was Maggie Jester, who went 2-for-4 with two runs.

Southwestern has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-12 record this season. As for Switzerland County, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-13 record this season.

Southwestern is taking a road trip to square off against Jac-Cen-Del at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.89 runs per game on average), something the Rebels will no doubt try to take advantage of. Switzerland County will be paying especially close attention to Southwestern's game: after Southwestern faces off against South Central, they'll take on Switzerland County again at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
