Ashley put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against the Hoggard Vikings by a score of 6-3. That's more bragging rights for the Screaming Eagle, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Cole Barnes made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Barnes wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Hudson Hauck, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Ashley pushed their record up to 11-0 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home. As for Hoggard, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-7.

Coming up, Ashley will be playing in front of their home fans against Wilmington Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Hoggard, they will face off against Topsail at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Topsail will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Hoggard surely won't give up without a fight.
