Basketball Recap: Union City Takes a Loss

Union City was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They lost 72-52 to the Centerville Bulldogs. The Indians were not able to make up for their loss to the Bulldogs from their previous meeting back in February of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Union City lost, don't look at Trendon Spence. Despite the final result, he on his way to 18 points along with five assists and four steals. What's more, Spence also posted an 86% field goal percentage, which is the highest he's achieved since back in December of 2023. Jackson Cowper was another key player, putting up ten points in addition to six boards and three steals.

Centerville got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ethan Vecera out in front who to rack up 13 points along with six assists and six steals. Vecera is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last 12 games he's played. Another player making a difference was Shea Hollendonner, who en route to 18 points and three steals.

Union City's defeat dropped their record down to 4-14. As for Centerville, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 15-6.

Union City didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 61-35 loss against Union County on the 21st. As for Centerville, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 67-28 victory against Tri on the 21st.
