Baseball Preview: Mt. Pleasant Vikings vs. Southmoreland Scotties        
        
		
            Mt. Pleasant is 7-2 against Southmoreland since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Vikings will be playing in front of their home fans against the Scotties  at 4:00  p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Mt. Pleasant has three straight  victories, Southmoreland has eight straight  losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Mt. Pleasant proved they can win big  on Tuesday (they won by 11) and  on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Burrell, sneaking past  5-3.
 Jacob Kitz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't  given up  more than one  walk in five consecutive appearances.

 At the plate,  Santino Marne was  excellent,  going 3-for-4 with two  runs and two  doubles. Those  two  doubles gave  him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was  Connor Drzal, who  got on base  in two of his four plate appearances with two  runs.
Meanwhile, Southmoreland came up short against Uniontown on Thursday and fell  7-3.
 Southmoreland saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Bredon Geho, who  went a perfect 2-for-2 with two  stolen bases and two  runs.
 Mt. Pleasant pushed their record up to 8-4-2 with the  win, which was their ninth straight  on the road dating back to last season. The  road  victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Southmoreland, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8.
 Mt. Pleasant skirted past Southmoreland  3-2 in their previous meeting  back in May of 2024. Do  the Vikings have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Scotties turn the tables on them?  We'll have the answer soon enough.
