Basketball Recap: Westwood Piles Up the Points Against Teague

Westwood won the last time they faced Teague and things went their way on Friday too. The Westwood Panthers simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Teague Lions 87-33. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 257th, while the Lions are ranked 1166th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Despite the loss, Teague still got an impressive performance from Zak Leija, who posted 12 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. Leija has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last three times he's played.

Westwood pushed their record up to 14-6 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 77.8 points per game. As for Teague, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-13.

Westwood will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Mexia at 7:15 p.m. Mexia will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Westwood surely won't give up without a fight. As for Teague, they will head out to face off against Buffalo at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
