Softball Recap: Ellenville Comes Up Short

Ellenville and Sullivan West squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Ellenville had to settle for second. They took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bulldogs. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Blue Devils couldn't push the score so high this time.

Victoria Bonitz put in work no matter where she played. She struck out 12 batters over six innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off ten hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run.

Bonitz wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Lyla Denman, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double.

Ellenville's loss dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Sullivan West, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-1.

Ellenville does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Sullivan West has already played their next contest (against Highland), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
