Volleyball Recap: Freedom Falcons vs. Heritage Patriots

After flying high against Pittsburg on Tuesday, Freedom came back down to earth. The Falcons came up short against the Heritage Patriots on Thursday, falling 3-0. While getting shut out isn't ideal, the Falcons haven't been shut out since back in September.

Freedom took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-7, 25-14, 25-22.

Jaliyah Merellas paced Freedom's offense, picking up 13 kills. Merellas got some help from Lauren Morgan and her 15 assists.

Freedom's defeat dropped their record down to 10-8. As for Heritage, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season.

Freedom will square off against Antioch at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Falcons are facing the Panthers at the right time seeing as the Panthers are stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Heritage, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-1 loss against Archbishop Riordan on the 11th.
