Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Big Foot). They blew past the Clinton Cougars 15-5 on Thursday. This was a revenge game for the Chiefs: when they faced off against the Cougars on Tuesday, they had to take a 4-3 defeat.
Skylar Jacobs spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up seven Ks. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Big Foot is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 3-11 otherwise.
At the plate, Quincy Torrez and Carter Ries did most of the damage at the plate: Torrez got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three RBI and one run, while Ries got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs. Those three runs gave Ries a new career-high. Carson Buchholz was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs.
Big Foot always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
The win snapped Big Foot's losing streak at five games and leaves them with a 6-11 record. As for Clinton, their loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-13.
