Basketball Game Preview: Marina Mariners vs. Monte Vista Christian Mustangs

The Marina Mariners will venture away from home to take on the Monte Vista Christian Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Marina is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak.

Last Tuesday, Marina came up short against Watsonville and fell 58-45. While losing is never fun, the Mariners can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1035th, while the Wildcatz are ranked 442nd).

Meanwhile, Monte Vista Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. The game between them and North Monterey County didn't end well, with Monte Vista Christian falling 71-53.

Marina's loss dropped their record down to 7-14. As for Monte Vista Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-12.

Marina beat Monte Vista Christian 70-63 when the teams last played back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Marina since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
