Baseball Recap: Moscow Continues Home Dominance on Tuesday

Moscow not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 17th. They put the hurt on the Lewiston Bengals with a sharp 9-1 victory. That's more bragging rights for the Bears, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Butch Kiblen spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up nine Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Moscow is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-5 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Tyson Izzo, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run and one double. That home run was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Andrew Hurley, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Moscow pushed their record up to 6-5 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Lewiston, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-7 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Lewiston beat Moscow by a score of 17-7 later that day.
