It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Fernley had no problem doing just that on Friday. They were the clear victors by an 18-4 margin over the Elko Indians. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Vaqueros.
Nikko Pryor made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Pryor was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Alex Juliot was incredible, going 3-for-6 with five RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. Joseph Perry was another key player, going 2-for-6 with four runs.
Fernley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Elko only managed seven hits.
Fernley's record now sits at 13-16-1. As for Elko, they now have a losing record of 16-17.
Fernley didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 10-6 defeat against Truckee on the 10th. Elko does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
