Football Recap: Grace Takes Down Rialto in a Playoff Battle

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Grace had no problem doing just that on Friday. They slipped by the Rialto Knights 28-27. The win was familiar territory for the Lancers, who have now won six matchups in a row.

Grace's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jake Williams, who rushed for 164 yards and one TD. Williams is becoming a predictor of the Lancers' success: when he posts at least 100 rushing yards the team is undefeated (and 1-3 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Cooper, who picked up 123 receiving yards and one touchdown.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Grace was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 202 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 150 rushing yards in six consecutive games.

Grace's victory bumped their record up to 8-3. As for Rialto, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-2.

Looking ahead, Grace will be playing at home against Yucca Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Rialto does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
