Softball Recap: New Kent Takes Down Tabb in a Playoff Battle

With a playoff win on the line, New Kent rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Tabb Tigers with a sharp 10-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won 17 matches by eight runs or more so far this season.

Abbie Kegley made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hannah Tober, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one double. Another player making a difference was Kendall White, who went 2-for-3 with five RBI and one double.

New Kent hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in 17 consecutive contests.

New Kent pushed their record up to 19-3 with the victory, which was their 12th straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Tabb, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-11.

As of now, neither New Kent nor the Tigers have any future games scheduled.
