Basketball Preview: Washburn Millers vs. Minneapolis South Tigers
The Washburn Millers will head out on the road to take on the Minneapolis South Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Washburn is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
Last Friday, Washburn was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 57-52 to the Raiders. While losing is never fun, Washburn can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 274th, while the Raiders are ranked 114th).
Meanwhile, Minneapolis South's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They lost to Roosevelt at home by a decisive 39-23 margin. Minneapolis South has not had much luck with the Teddies recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Washburn has not been sharp recently as the team's lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season. As for Minneapolis South, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-6.
Washburn was able to grind out a solid victory over the Tigers in their previous matchup back in January, winning 56-49. The rematch might be a little tougher for Washburn since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
