Kiowa took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Calhan Bulldogs with a sharp 3-0 victory. For the Indians, this counts as revenge for the 3-1 win the Bulldogs walked away with the last time they faced one another back in August of 2024.
While Kiowa won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 29-27, 25-21.
Kiley Kuhn paced Kiowa's offense, picking up 19 kills. Kuhn got some help from Rylee Wyer and her 32 assists. Wyer also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Nevaeh Kelty, racking up four apiece.
Kiowa will challenge Evangel Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Calhan, they will take on Banning Lewis Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
