Basketball Game Preview: New Covenant Gryphons vs. Lynchburg HomeSchool Patriots

New Covenant and Lynchburg HomeSchool are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2020, but not for long. The New Covenant Gryphons will host the Lynchburg HomeSchool Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

New Covenant is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Miller School of Albemarle just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Thursday. They were beaten by the Mavericks 58-14.

Ellie Jacobs put forth a good effort for the losing side as she posted six points and six rebounds. She has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last nine times she's played.

Meanwhile, Lynchburg HomeSchool unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy by a score of 51-48 two weeks ago. The Patriots haven't had much luck with the Ospreys recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

New Covenant's defeat dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Lynchburg HomeSchool, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.

Everything went New Covenant's way against Lynchburg HomeSchool when the teams last played back in December of 2023, as New Covenant made off with a 42-22 win. Will New Covenant repeat their success, or does Lynchburg HomeSchool have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
