Preview: Bishop Verot Vikings vs. Calvary Christian Warriors
Bishop Verot has enjoyed a four-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Calvary Christian Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Bishop Verot had no problem doing just that on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 50-32 win over the Cougars.
Bishop Verot can attribute much of their success to Caroline Ward, who scored 17 points, and Cameron O'halloran, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Ward is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 16 or more in the last four games she's played. Ambrielle Calixte was another key contributor, scoring six points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Calvary Christian had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26.4 points), and they went ahead and made it nine on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Clearwater Central Catholic and snuck past 45-43.
Bishop Verot has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season. As for Calvary Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 18-3.
