Softball Recap: Monroe Wins Going Away Against Jackson

Monroe made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Jackson, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Monroe blew past Jackson 18-8 on Friday. The Bearcats' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Scarlett Nagy was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in March of 2024. Hadley Oylear also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Nagy wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Monroe kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive matchups.

The victory snapped Monroe's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 2-3 record. As for Jackson, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.

Coming up, Monroe is taking a road trip to square off against Lake Stevens at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Lake Stevens' pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so Monroe's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Jackson, they will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Everett at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
