Baseball Recap: Arroyo Valley Comes Up Short

Arroyo Valley had lost eight straight at home dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 0-13 to make it nine. They took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eisenhower Eagles. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-5 on March 10th.

As for Eisenhower, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-12. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 4 runs in those games.

For Eisenhower's part, Sebastian Alvarez got the start for Eisenhower and what a start it was: he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched.

At the plate, Joshua Aguilar and Daniel Mendez did most of the damage at the plate: Aguilar went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base, while Mendez went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. Mendez is becoming a predictor of Eisenhower's success: when he posts at least three hits the team is 2-1 (and 1-11 when he doesn't). Issac Cervantes was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Eisenhower beat Arroyo Valley by a score of 10-0 on Thursday.
