Archbishop McCarthy had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it seven on Wednesday. They skirted past the Miami Christian Victors 2-0. That's more bragging rights for the Mavericks, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Xavier Domenech tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Archbishop McCarthy's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Danny Machado, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Machado has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.

Archbishop McCarthy's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-9. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games. As for Miami Christian, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-13.
