Basketball Recap: Grant Cook's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Keswick Christian over Hackettstown

Keswick Christian lost against Hackettstown back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Keswick Christian Crusaders fell 59-50 to the Hackettstown Tigers. While losing is never fun, the Crusaders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 505th in Florida, while the Tigers are ranked 198th in New Jersey).

Keswick Christian's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Grant Cook, who went 7 for 13 en route to 18 points and six boards. That was a full 36% of Keswick Christian's points, marking the third time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Batey, who put up 13 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

This is the second loss in a row for Keswick Christian and nudges their season record down to 12-9. As for Hackettstown, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-6.

Keswick Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 59-44 loss against Clearwater Central Catholic on the 25th. As for Hackettstown, they will face off against Jefferson Township at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Jefferson Township has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
