Softball Recap: Eldorado Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Eldorado dropped their record down to 9-8 on Saturday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins at home. They came up short against the La Cueva Bears, falling 14-0. The match marked the first time this year in which the Golden Eagles were not able to get on the board.

As for La Cueva, the victory (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 15-3. Considering they have won 12 games by more than nine runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

For La Cueva's part, Liliana Montoya was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. Montoya has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Alex Fox was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Genesis Jaramillo was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: La Cueva beat Eldorado by a score of 15-3 later that day.
