Baseball Recap: Butler Takes a Loss

If Butler was feeling good fresh off their 24-7 takedown of Rocky River last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Butler fell 15-11 to the Palisades Pumas on Thursday.

Grayson DeBerry was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-5. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Greyson Sheaffer was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-5.

DeBerry wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Butler kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That's a new trend for Butler: they were averaging 4.9 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 11.2.

Butler has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season. The victory made it two in a row for Palisades and bumps their season record up to 6-7.

Looking ahead, Butler will be playing at home against Rocky River at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Butler is facing Rocky River at the right time seeing as Rocky River is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Palisades, they are taking a road trip to face off against Olympic at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Olympic has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 18.43 runs per game on average), something Palisades will no doubt try to take advantage of.
