Bishop Carroll saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Preston Gillin, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. Another was Cory Franceschini, who scored a run while going 2-for-2.
Meanwhile, Somerset put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They never let Bedford get on the board and left with a 4-0 victory. The four-run effort marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.
The result came thanks to Braeden Flower's shutout, as he gave up just two hits and racked up 11 Ks. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in May of 2024.
On the hitting side, Callen Miller and Max Means did most of the damage at the plate: Miller went a perfect 3-for-3 with one double and one RBI, while Means scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave Means a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Lane Lambert, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.
Somerset was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .381. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .303 or higher in five consecutive contests.
Somerset pushed their record up to 7-0 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Bishop Carroll, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.
