Granite Hills had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They were the clear victors by a 17-11 margin over the Santa Rosa Academy Rangers on Thursday. Considering the Cougars have won ten matches by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Britney Zuniga was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. Zuniga was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs.

As for Santa Rosa Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-7.

Coming up, Granite Hills will challenge Ramona Convent at 3:15 p.m. on Saturday. The Cougars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season. Santa Rosa Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
