The Grant Community Bulldogs will face off against the Rolling Meadows Mustangs at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
On Thursday, Grant Community came up short against Lakes and fell 8-5.
Meanwhile, Rolling Meadows hadn't done well against Schaumburg recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Mustangs put the hurt on the Saxons with a sharp 15-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won 11 games by six runs or more so far this season.
Tyler Stankiewicz made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits (and only one walk). Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Rolling Meadows got a massive performance out of Josh Rappa, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits Rappa has posted since back in April. Ryan Schneider was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two triples, two runs, and one RBI.
Rolling Meadows was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They are a perfect 10-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Grant Community has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-13 record this season. As for Rolling Meadows, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 20-11 record.
Grant Community skirted past Rolling Meadows 5-3 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Do the Bulldogs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mustangs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
