Preview: McEwen Warriors vs. Waverly Central Tigers
The McEwen Warriors will head out on the road to face off against the Waverly Central Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully McEwen is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Waverly Central in Tennessee (McEwen is ranked 157th, while Waverly Central is ranked 377th).
Even though McEwen has not done well against Perry County recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. McEwen walked away with a 72-60 victory over Perry County. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Waverly Central, who are still winless after their fourth matchup. They took a 67-49 bruising from Dickson County on Monday. Waverly Central has not had much luck with Dickson County recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
McEwen's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-2. As for Waverly Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.
McEwen beat Waverly Central 43-32 in their previous matchup two weeks ago. The rematch might be a little tougher for McEwen since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
