Softball Recap: Galway Starts Season with Victory Against Albany

Galway had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They blew past the Albany Falcons 19-12 on Tuesday.

Emma Menge made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. What's more, she posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Galway got a massive performance out of Samantha Becker, who went 2-for-4 with four stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Kiera Allen, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-5.

Coming up, Galway will head out on the road to challenge Schalmont at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Albany, they will welcome Cohoes at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
