Baseball Game Preview: Whitney Wildcats vs. Oak Ridge Trojans

For the second straight game, Whitney will face off against Oak Ridge. The Wildcats will square off against the Trojans at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Whitney took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They came out on top against Oak Ridge by a score of 5-2. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last seven times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Braeden Jenest spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up six Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Bryce Farris, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March.

Oak Ridge's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Whitney, they moved to 6-9 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Oak Ridge's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Whitney has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.3 strikeouts per game.
