Baseball Recap: Hastings Takes a Loss

Hastings had lost 12 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 1-12 to make it 13. They fell 6-1 to the Harper Creek Beavers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Saxons of the 10-3 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Hastings saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Colten Denton, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

As for Harper Creek, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.6 runs over those games.

On Harper Creek's side, Brayden Bess was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those three hits gave Bess a new career-high. Braxton Liss was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

While Hastings had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
