Softball Recap: Civic Memorial Extends Road Winning Streak to Three

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Monday as neither Civic Memorial nor Mascoutah made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Eagles walked away with a 12-7 win over the Indians. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 15, 2024, but that streak is no more.

Megan Griffith spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered seven earned runs on 11 hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Skylar Johnson and Danika Chester did most of the damage at the plate: Johnson went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double, while Chester went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Allison Friedel was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Civic Memorial pushed their record up to 10-4 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. As for Mascoutah, their loss dropped their record down to 7-5.
