Softball Game Preview: Spencerport Rangers vs. Gates Chili Spartans

The Spencerport Rangers will head out to challenge the Gates Chili Spartans at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Gates Chili took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Spencerport, who comes in off a win.

Spencerport barely beat Eastridge the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Rangers blew past the Lancers 9-2 on Friday. Considering the Rangers have won five matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Gates Chili couldn't beat Honeoye Falls-Lima on Friday even though they stacked four runs on them in the fifth inning. The Spartans came up short against the Cougars, falling 13-4. The Spartans haven't had much luck with the Cougars recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Gates Chili saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Claire Yates, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Spencerport's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-5. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Gates Chili, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-8.

Spencerport took their victory against Gates Chili in their previous matchup two weeks ago by a conclusive 12-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rangers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
