Basketball Recap: Southern Wake Academy Lions vs. Ascend Leadership Aviators
This season hasn't been kind to the Southern Wake Academy Lions, who are still winless after their 16th game. They fell to Ascend Leadership 28-24. Southern Wake Academy was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Aviators apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2021.
Despite the loss, Southern Wake Academy saw an underclassman step up: Jayme Endicott almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 17 rebounds.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Southern Wake Academy struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They are winless (0-6) when they can't control their own glass like that.
Southern Wake Academy dropped their record down to 0-16 with that loss, which was their ninth straight at home. As for Ascend Leadership, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-10.
Southern Wake Academy's homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Jaguars at 6:00 p.m. on February 6th. As for Ascend Leadership, they will head out on the road to face off against the Cavaliers at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
