Basketball Game Preview: Atascadero Greyhounds vs. Lompoc Braves

The Atascadero Greyhounds will venture away from home to square off against the Lompoc Braves at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.

Atascadero is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Bishop Amat just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Saturday. They lost 65-44 to the Lancers. While losing is never fun, the Greyhounds can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 323rd, while the Lancers are ranked 131st).

Meanwhile, Lompoc had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 40 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Saturday. They walked away with a 79-71 victory over the Wildcats.

Atascadero's loss dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Lompoc, their win bumped their record up to 13-2.

Atascadero strolled past Lompoc in their previous matchup back in February of 2024 by a score of 74-57. The rematch might be a little tougher for Atascadero since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
