Softball Recap: Manteca Takes a Loss

Manteca suffered their closest loss since March 25th on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Oakdale Mustangs by a score of 10-8. The Buffaloes were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Mustangs earlier this season, when they won 4-2.

Ayva Wilkins led a balanced group of hitters, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Sienna Owen, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

This is the second loss in a row for Manteca and nudges their season record down to 19-7. Even worse, they were so close both times: the defeats came by an average of only 1.5 runs. As for Oakdale, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-10.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Manteca will take on rival Mountain House at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Oakdale is set to face off against their familiar foe East Union at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
