Softball Recap: Richwood Takes a Loss

Richwood had lost 11 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 0-8 to make it 12. They came up short against the Midland Trail Patriots, falling 21-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Patriots this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 19-8 back in March.

As for Midland Trail, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-9 record this season. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Midland Trail's part, Stephanie Harrell made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. What's more, Harrell posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. She also scored a run, marking her first of the season.

In other batting news, Midland Trail got a massive performance out of Abby Parcell, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those three hits gave Parcell a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mary Mcgraw, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and two runs.

Richwood has already played their next contest (against Calhoun), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Midland Trail, they have also already played their next game, a 5-2 win against James Monroe on the 18th.
