A Season-Best Performance from Luke Deperno Leads West Ranch over Saugus

On Friday, West Ranch got the W thanks in part to Luke Deperno playing the best football he has all season. Deperno rushed for 282 yards and four touchdowns on only 15 carries, and also picked up 36 receiving yards, good enough to set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process. His longest rush was for an incredible 82 yards.

If the past is any indication, Deperno could be in store for another big game when he takes on Castaic on Thursday. Deperno rushed for 189 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.5 yards per carry the last time he and the Coyotes duked it out back in October of 2023.

Zach Rogozik Sets Career High in Rushing Yards

Hart was led to victory by Zach Rogozik, who turned in his biggest game of the season on Friday. Rogozik rushed for 232 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.1 yards per carry, good enough to set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process. That high mark didn't come from nowhere: he has now punched in two or more in the last three games he's played dating back to last season.

The victory (which was Hart's sixth in a row) raised their record to 6-1. Rogozik and Hart will square off against Canyon at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Brian Bonner Goes Supernova in Valencia Win

Valencia found a leader in Brian Bonner as the squad took down Canyon on Friday. Nobody could stop Bonner as he rushed for 149 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.8 yards per carry, and also picked up 33 receiving yards.

This season, Bonner has caught 3 touchdowns while averaging 48.7 receiving yards per game. It gets even more impressive: after six games last season, he had one rushing touchdown. This year he is already up to 13.

Big Game from Bretthauer As Valencia Won 55-7

Keeping Bonner company is Brady Bretthauer, a fellow Valencia player. He threw for 177 yards and three touchdowns while completing 83.3% of his passes.

This season, Bretthauer has thrown 11 touchdowns while averaging 221.8 passing yards per game. He is looking even better than he did last year: after six games last season, he had two passing touchdowns.
