Softball Recap: Sandia Prep Takes a Loss

Sandia Prep was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against the Hope Christian Huskies, falling 15-3. Surprisingly, this marked the eighth straight game that the away team has come away the victor.

Sandia Prep saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Amelia Martinez, who scored a run while going 2-for-2. Another was Madeline Draszkiewicz, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

Even though they lost, Sandia Prep was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .462. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive matchups.

Sandia Prep's loss dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Hope Christian, the win was the fifth in a row (dating back to last season) for them, bringing their record for this year to 2-0.

Looking ahead, Sandia Prep will challenge Shiprock at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Sandia Prep has given up an average of 14.7 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. As for Hope Christian, they will take on Eldorado at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
