Football Recap: Archbishop Curley Piles Up the Points Against St. John's Catholic Prep

After low-scoring totals in their previous three contest, Archbishop Curley brought some dynamite into their most recent matchup. They claimed a resounding 41-0 victory over the St. John's Catholic Prep Vikings. Considering the Friars' offense had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Archbishop Curley's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jemal O'Neal, who rushed for 38 yards and one TD, and also caught one touchdown.

Archbishop Curley didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Parker Giannelli. Archbishop Curley is 2-1 when Giannelli posts one or more interceptions, but 0-3 otherwise.

The victory snapped Archbishop Curley's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 2-4 record. As for St. John's Catholic Prep, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 0-6.

Archbishop Curley didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 35-16 loss against Severn School on the 11th. As for St. John's Catholic Prep, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Pallotti at 7:00 p.m. on the 17th.
