Recap: Saugerties Sawyers vs. Averill Park Warriors

The Saugerties Sawyers lost against the Averill Park Warriors back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. Saugerties lost to Averill Park on the road by a decisive 51-36 margin. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Saugerties has scored all season.

When it comes to explaining why Saugerties lost, one person who can't be blamed is Nick Stinemire. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Stinemire scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Damon Weishaupt, who scored four points along with eight rebounds and three steals.

Saugerties' defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 6-5. As for Averill Park, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-8.

Saugerties will take on Rondout Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Rondout Valley is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Averill Park, they will head out on the road to face off against Columbia at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
