Howell is 9-1 against Troy-Buchanan since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Vikings will host the Trojans at 4:15 p.m. Howell's pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so Troy-Buchanan's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Howell is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Missouri's top teams: Fort Zumwalt West, who was ranked fourth at the time (Howell was ranked first). The Vikings came up short against the Jaguars on Wednesday, falling 14-4. The loss was the Vikings' first of the season.

Meanwhile, Troy-Buchanan had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 5-4 W against the Tigers.

Chase Niehoff looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

On the hitting side, Troy-Buchanan's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Brady Eulinger, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Having lost for the first time this season, Howell fell to 8-1. As for Troy-Buchanan, their victory bumped their record up to 8-5.

Howell skirted past Troy-Buchanan 1-0 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Do the Vikings have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Trojans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
