Baseball Game Preview: Owensboro Red Devils vs. Meade County Green Waves

The Owensboro Red Devils will head out to challenge the Meade County Green Waves at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Owensboro's pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so Meade County's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Last Wednesday, Owensboro earned an 8-3 win over Daviess County.

Meanwhile, Meade County came into Thursday's game having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They put the hurt on Bullitt Central with a sharp 12-5 victory on Thursday. The Green Waves might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by six runs or more this season.

Aidan Bratcher made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out ten batters over four innings while giving up three earned runs off only one hit. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lucas Hail, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. That's the most hits he has posted over his last ten contests. John Honaker also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Meade County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive games.

Owensboro's record is now 7-5. As for Meade County, the win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 10-4.

Owensboro beat Meade County 8-4 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Red Devils since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
