Softball Recap: Cedar Vale/Dexter's Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Cedar Vale/Dexter came out on top against South Sumner [Caldwell/South Haven] on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run fifth inning. The Spartans put the hurt on the Outlaws with a sharp 12-1 win. The Spartans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 16 games by six runs or more this season.

Zoe Davidson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, firing off two home runs, four runs, and three RBI while going 3-for-4. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bailey Hedgecock, who got on base in two of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024. Eislee Boatman also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

The victory was the fourth in a row for Cedar Vale/Dexter, bringing their record up to 20-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for South Sumner [Caldwell/South Haven], this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-3.
