Football Recap: Christian Salomon's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Walter Panas over Albertus Magnus

Walter Panas's game on Saturday was all tied up 0-0 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They took a 26-21 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Albertus Magnus Falcons. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Falcons apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Walter Panas lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Christian Salomon, who picked up 106 receiving yards and a pair of scores. Jack Doherty handled things on the ground, rushing for 135 yards and a rushing touchdown.

Even if they lost, Walter Panas' defense still kept up the pressure with five sacks. Doherty was especially locked on to Albertus Magnus' QB and sacked him twice.

Albertus Magnus' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Sean McGuinness led the charge by picking up 174 receiving yards and one TD. Another passer making a difference was Derek Sullivan, who threw for 239 yards and one touchdown.

Walter Panas' loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Albertus Magnus, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Walter Panas didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 26-23 victory against Tappan Zee on the 27th. As for Albertus Magnus, they have also already played their next matchup, a 35-22 defeat against Peekskill on the 27th.
