Baseball Recap: Port Jervis Gets the Win

Port Jervis and Sullivan West pushed the score to 11-10 the last time they played Sullivan West, but on Friday defenses reigned supreme. The Raiders narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Bulldogs 2-1. The victory continues a trend for the Raiders in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won six in a row.

Kevin Mesnick was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

Port Jervis' win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Sullivan West, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Port Jervis will welcome Burke Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Sullivan West, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Chester at 4:30 p.m. on the 25th.
