Basketball Recap: Southern Coffey County Takes a Loss

Southern Coffey County was the 38-34 winner over Yates Center when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Southern Coffey County Titans lost 37-12 to the Yates Center Wildcats on Friday. The Titans' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it five in a row.

Emily Ludolph was Southern Coffey County's leading scorer, having posted seven points.

Yates Center found their leader in sophomore Cayten Cummings, who posted 15 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which Cummings has scored at least a third of Yates Center's points. Another player making a difference was McKynzee Burkholder, who put up eight points along with ten boards and five steals.

Southern Coffey County's loss dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Yates Center, their victory bumped their record up to 4-12.

Coming up, Southern Coffey County is taking a road trip to take on Madison on February 14th. As for Yates Center, they will host Oswego at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Oswego will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Yates Center surely won't give up without a fight.
