Baseball Game Preview: Crystal Springs Uplands Gryphons vs. Design Tech Dragons

The Crystal Springs Uplands Gryphons will hit the road for the first time this season to square off against the Design Tech Dragons at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Crystal Springs Uplands is headed out to face Design Tech after opening their season at home and giving their fans just what they were looking for. Crystal Springs Uplands won by a run and slipped past Pinewood 5-4. Winning may never get old, but the Gryphons sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row dating back to last season.

The team relied heavily on Tyler Hanebrink, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Marcus Kao was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.

Design Tech not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since April 19, 2024. They never let The Bay School get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. The Dragons' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Isaac Gradek made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Gradek was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with three doubles, two runs, and one stolen base. He also brought in two RBI, marking his first of the season.

In other batting news, Eoin Halili and Maddox Hom did most of the damage at the plate: Halili went 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI, while Hom scored a run while going 3-for-4. That RBI marked the first that Halili brought in this season. Another player making a difference was Eddy Yee, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Crystal Springs Uplands might still be hurting after the 9-2 loss they got from Design Tech in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can Crystal Springs Uplands avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
